CHARTER

Introduction

Walkers Guild is a group of friends who enjoy similar things about their Everquest experience, and who take pleasure from each other's company. Most of us are adults, but that is a not a requirement for membership. None of us are as concerned about the power of our items as we are about strength of our relationships with other players in the game, Walkers or not. We have all agreed to help other players when appropriate and reasonable to do so. This does not mean twinking newbies or SoW'ing every Lord of War who demands it with a growl, but rather being polite enough to offer directions if we have the time, or even providing escort on occasion. Few of us who have been Walkers long have not benefited greatly from the help of our guild-mates, and we know we can rely on each other in times of great need.

We have agreed that bigotry of any kind has no place in Walkers Guild, whether presented in game terms or not. Our ranks include an Ogre and a Dark Elf, and in the past we have welcomed Iksar. We do not use Everquest as a place to practice Real Life bigotry, either. While the players behind the characters may have many different views, the characters within the game practice tolerance of all people and peoples and do not use the anonymity of the Internet and the game to spread hate.

Walkers Guild is small by design. A bulging membership might help us to attain power, or reach the planes quicker, but the journey would be less pleasurable without careful selection of our companions. Our membership is frequently closed while we work out internal issues or simply because the officers are too busy to do proper interviews of perspective recruits. If you are a person applying for membership and it is taking a while, don't take it personally, but do know that if you are eventually welcomed into the Walkers that we see it as a privilege and an honor; many before you were either turned down or grew impatient and joined other guilds with more inclusive agendas.

Walkers Guild Charter

Walkers Guild will always be relatively small, and concerned more about the quality of the person than their class or level. Race will not be considered an obstacle in membership.

The format of Everquest guild structure demands a Leader, and allows officers some but not all privileges afforded the Leader. I am leader as of this writing, mostly because I had the gumption to get everyone together, but unlike many guilds, I don't covet the power aspect of it, and I dread the responsibility. Really, we are a democracy; we try to discuss issues as much as we can instead of just having one person decide. As of this writing our officers include Elyhim, Whizbang, Leopa, and Ulrich (on voluntary leave while nurturing a new character).

All Walkers are welcome and encouraged to take leadership and plan events or spearhead movements. You need not be the leader, or an officer to plan a raid, a party, a wedding, or any other guild event. Go for it. If you find yourself about to ask "Do we have any events planned?" Be prepared to hear, "No, why don't you plan one?"

We recognize Everquest is a team-based game, and whether grouping with Walkers or others, we will try to be good team players.

Everquest can be very tough at first, and while we don't condone twinking (well, at least not too bad anyway), we will help younger players with directions, advice, escorts (no, not those kind of escorts, Whizbang), or other small favors when reasonable to do so. Leopa has had some small experience doing player-created quests and we would like to try sponsoring more of that.

Most of us, and most anyone who plays Everquest at all, play too much to subscribe to the view that it is just a game. We know it isn't Real Life, but that is no excuse for poor behavior or causing others grief, and justifying that behavior as part of the game. There are roleplayers who are playing evil characters, and while they wouldn't be welcomed into Walkers, that is different than the obnoxious player failing to role-play their good-natured dwarf, for instance. The former is justifiable (if often frustrating); the latter is intolerable.

We will respect each other's privacy. Many of use have exchanged e-mail addresses, and that makes planning a lot easier, but it is not required. If players want to maintain their RL anonymity, we will respect that. We will not give out any Walkers e-mail address to anyone, ever, for any reason. Violation of this article will be grounds for immediate dismissal from the guild.

All guild events are completely and total voluntary. If you don't want to participate because of scheduling, or you're the wrong level, or you just think it is a bad idea ("Shevik wants to raid where???? Has he been snorting fairy dust again?"), don't go. No hard feelings, no problem.
